Requirements RECOMMENDATIONS Talk to your doctor to determine whether you can
safely travel by air and
what your oxygen requirements will be both in the air and during any
layovers Travel non stop or on direct flights whenever
possible. Costs will be
less and continuous oxygen delivery will be maintained Make all ground arrangements with your oxygen
provider as soon as possible If a representative from the company providing
you oxygen will meet your
flight, try to arrive during normal business hours. Also have a local
phone number and contact person in case he/she is not at the gate Make airlines reservations as far in advance as
possible If you are concerned or unsure about information
you have received from
the reservation personnel, verify that information with the airline's
medical or special services Call the airlines 48 hours in advance to
reconfirm your oxygen arrangements Carry an oxygen prescription and all your
medications with you, not in
baggage Before the plane leaves the gate, be sure the
oxygen equipment is working
and the liter flow is correct. Remember even the best-laid plans can go
sideways
