There are four categories of NHOPA membership: User,
Health Professional, Individual, and Corporate.
Only User members are allowed to vote on Association matters. All dues
are tax deductable as a contribution
to a 501(c)(3) organization.
- User membership is open to anyone who requires
supplementary oxygen as ordered under a physician's
prescription, or immediate family members
- Health Professional membership is open to Health
Professionals in the field of oxygen therapy
- Individual membership is open to anyone who supports the
goals of the Association
- Corporate membership is open to companies that support
the goals of the association
Benefits of Joining the Association
- A one-year subscription to the NHOPA monthly newsletter
- A copy of "Understanding Oxygen Therapy," an educational booklet
written by physicians expressly for oxygen users
- A copy of TSA (Transportation Security Administration) pocket guide on Screening Tips for Persons with Disabilities. This handy packet includes a section on Medical Oxygen and Respiratory-Related Equipment and will help oxygen users navigate through airport security when they fly on commercial airlines
- An opportunity to have your voice heard on the policies that affect patients who require supplementary oxygen
- A member-to-member listing providing you a chance to communicate directly with other oxygen users if you wish to do so
Important Note: The Association currently
does not have the resources to
intervene on an individual patient's behalf with Medicare, their
physician, or local oxygen supplier.
However, the Association is willing to serve as an ombudsman on behalf
of oxygen patients, raising issues
with Medicare, physicians, other providers, and manufacturers that the
user member leadership of the Association
believes to be appropriate.
